Washington, DC – Representatives Lofgren and Honda (D-San Jose) announced today that the City of San Jose will receive 3 grants totaling $17.8 million for the Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport. The grants will provide funding for runway rehabilitation, taxiway improvements, safety enhancement and capacity. The grants also provide funding to reduce noise in the area surrounding the airport, and for an Aircraft Rescue Firefighting Vehicle.o:p>
“I am delighted that the San Jose Airport has been chosen to receive this funding and I want to congratulate them on the grant from the Department of Transportation,” Rep. Lofgren said. “This funding will provide for much needed improvements for our safety and security. The grant will also help reduce noise for neighbors of the airport.”
"In order for the Silicon Valley economy to rebound and grow, we need a safe, efficient, and dependable transportation infrastructure," said Rep. Honda, a member of the House Aviation Subcommittee of the Transportation Committee. "The grants announced today for Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport will go a long way in accomplishing these goals."
