Washington, D.C. -Representative Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) today released the following statement in response to her selection as Chair of the Committee on Standards of Official Conduct.
"I'm honored to have been selected to chair the Committee on
Standards of Official Conduct," said Rep. Zoe Lofgren. "Having served
for six years as a member of the committee earlier in my Congressional
tenure, I've seen firsthand the immensely important role it plays.
Without the public's trust and confidence, Government loses its
legitimacy. The Committee on Standards of Official Conduct exists to
ensure that the House of Representatives maintains that trust and
confidence, and in turn its legitimacy.
The American people deserve a Congress that holds their interest above all others. I pledge to work in a bipartisan manner to ensure that the House of Representatives maintains the highest of ethical standards and holds the public interest above all.
Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren is serving her eighth term in Congress
representing most of the City of San Jose and Santa Clara County. She
is the Chair of the House Committee on Standards of Official Conduct.
She also serves as Chair of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on
Immigration, Citizenship, Refugees, Border Security, and International
Law. She Chairs the House Administration Subcommittee on Elections and
serves on the House Homeland Security Committee. Congresswoman Lofgren
is Chair of the California Democratic Congressional Delegation
consisting of 34 Democratic members of the U.S. House of
Representatives from California.
