Standing up to discriminatory Executive Orders

The SOLVE Act

Zoe introduced the Statue of Liberty Values (SOLVE) Act (H.R. 724) in January to rescind and defund Trump's executive order banning refugees and travel from seven Muslim majority nations. This legislation has the support of 188 Democrats in Congress.

The Community Trust Act

Zoe introduced the Community Trust Act (H.R. 921) to rescind and defund Trump's executive order to target all undocumented individuals for deportation and punish sanctuary cities. Trump's order takes a divisive and punitive approach towards communities that disagree with Trump's immigration strategy. The Trump Administration should not substitute its judgement for that of law enforcement officers who are on the ground, working in their community, and risking their lives to make their communities safer.

Legal Challenges

Zoe led an amici curiae brief signed by 167 Members of Congress in support of plaintiffs suing President Trump in the Eastern District of New York over the recent Executive Order banning travel to the United States from seven Muslim-majority countries.

Standing up for DREAMers

Zoe introduced the American Hope Act to provide a permanent legislative solution for the more than 800,000 young people enrolled in DACA and put thousands of others on a path to earn permanent legal residency and eventual citizenship if they meet certain requirements. Recent actions by State Attorneys General and the Trump Administration have put the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program in peril.

Standing up for Science

Along with Senator Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii), Zoe introduced the the Science Laureates of the United States Act. Similar to the Poet Laureate, the Science Laureate of the United States would promote a greater appreciation of a field important for all Americans—raising the public's awareness about scientific feats and accomplishments, and inspiring others to pursue innovations in the science field.

Standing up for the 25th Amendment

Zoe introduced a resolution that urges the Vice President and Cabinet to have the President examined by medical, neurological, and psychiatric professionals to assist them in determining whether the President is fit and able to fulfill his Constitutional duties.

Ending Partisan Gerrymandering

Zoe introduced legislation to end partisan gerrymandering and reform the nation's patchwork redistricting system. The Redistricting Reform Act of 2017 (H.R. 1102) will require states to establish independent, multi-party citizen redistricting commissions to draw open and transparent statewide district maps after each decennial census. The bill is a component of the "By the People" Legislative Package advanced by the House Democrats' Democracy Reform Task Force.

Protecting Women's Rights

Zoe is committed to defending a woman's access to health care and her constitutional right to make health care decisions that affect her body against attacks by Donald Trump and the Republican Congress.

Holding the Trump Administration Accountable:

• Zoe pressed the President of Kushner Companies for answers on the company's use of EB-5 visas and its continued ties to Jared Kushner, President Trump's top advisor and son-in-law. Mr. Kushner has faced scrutiny over his contacts with Russian officials and his former company reportedly is facing financial trouble.
• Zoe introduced a priviliged resolution requiring President Trump to immediately disclose his tax return information to Congress and the American people. The resolution was blocked by Republican opposition.
• Zoe requested information about Attorney General Session's decision to abruptly settle United States v. Prevezon Holdings Ltd, a money laundering case that the Department of Justice (DOJ) abruptly settled that involved Russia sanctions, New York real estate holdings, and the lawyer who met with Donald Trump Jr.
• Zoe joined in calling for House Judiciary Committee hearings to investigate a formal condemnation of the right-wing extremists responisble for the tragic events in Charlottesville and the formal censure of President Trump and his shocking and divisive response.
