Congressional App Challenge
Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren is excited to announce that her office is now taking submissions for the 2019 Congressional App Challenge!
All students entering the competition must first register here.
In addition to registering through the Congressional App Challenge website, all students must provide a YouTube or VIMEO video demo explaining their app and what they have learned throughout the competition process. More details on submitting a contest entry, the rules of the competition, and programming resources can be found at CongressionalAppChallenge.us.
About the 2019 Congressional App Challenge
The Congressional App Challenge is an annual Congressional Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Academic Competition designed to engage students’ creativity and encourage their participation in STEM education fields. The competition was established by the U.S. House of Representatives in 2013, and the pilot competition ran in 2014.
The Congressional App Challenge is open to middle school and high school students who live or are eligible to attend a middle or high school located in the 19th Congressional District. Students may register as individuals or a team with up to four members. If competing as a team, at least two of the members must be eligible to compete in the 19th Congressional district.
The winner will be announced beginning of December. Judging period will take place in November.
The winners will have their app displayed on CongressionalAppChallenge.us and on House.gov for a year. Each winner/team will be awarded $250 in Amazon Web Services (AWS) Credits.
Winners will also be able to attend a reception and a two-day event called, House of Code in Washington D.C. that will take place in Spring of 2020. Travel and accommodations will be at the winner(s)’ expense. Further details will be available later.
