Rep. Lofgren's Legislation to Address Wildfire Risk
Wildland Firefighter Fair Pay Act: This legislation waives premium pay caps for federal firefighters working overtime to battle wildfires to ensure federal firefighters get the pay they're due. For more information, read here.
National Wildland Fire Risk Reduction Program Act: This legislation identifies and invests in research and development, set up warning and forecast systems, develop observation and sensing technologies, and standardize data collection efforts to improve the nation's preparedness, resilience and response to wildfires. It will help to fill in knowledge gaps and strengthen coordination of wildfire science efforts across federal science agencies. For more information, read here.
