Chair Lofgren Announces Nearly $64M for Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure in CA

May 14, 2024

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren (CA-18), the elected chair of the California Democratic Congressional Delegation (CDCD), announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration (FHA) will distribute $63,702,988 to the California Department of Transportation to repair and replace electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure.

“Climate change poses a serious threat, and investments must be made in sensible and environmentally-friendly solutions like electric vehicle charging infrastructure. This important federal funding will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, promote EV adoption, expand the EV workforce, and spur economic growth across California,” said Rep. Lofgren.

This funding comes from the FHA’s Electric Vehicle Charger Reliability and Accessibility Accelerator Program, which supports the repair and replacement of broken and non-operational electric vehicle charging ports.

The FHA funding was provided by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which was passed under democratic leadership in the 117th Congress and every member of the CDCD voted in favor of.
