House Administration Holds Meeting on H.R. 811

March 29, 2007

Rep. Lofgren Stresses Support for Moving Forward

Today, the Committee on House Administration met regarding H.R. 811, the Voter Confidence and Increased Accessibility Act of 2007. Elections Subcommittee Chair Lofgren issued the following statement in support of the bill:

Due to Chairwoman Millender-McDonald’s absence we have temporarily delayed action today on this important bipartisan measure. However, the committee will move this piece of widely supported legislation forward in a timely manner. We are working with stake holders to address any possible questions they may have, and I believe that any issues will be addressed as the bill moves through the committee process. I want to ensure that what we produce in the end is a common sense approach which earns voter confidence and makes for a transparent, reliable, and accurate system for casting and counting ballots.
