Earlier today, a spokeswoman for the California Republican Party said, “Unless President Bush is coming to California to hand over a check from the federal government to help us with the financial challenges we face, the visit seems ill timed."

Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren (D-San Jose) offered this response:

“I could not agree more. President Bush is not ¥coming to California to hand over a check from the federal government,’ because the Governor has not been the “Collectinator” as he promised. Instead of being strong enough to stand up for Californians and get President Bush to deliver for our state, Governor Schwarzenegger is avoiding the President so he can run around campaigning for a special election that voters don’t want.”
