Lofgren Announces $101.8 Million in Federal Transit Funding for San Jose

April 6, 2022

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren (CA-19) announced that the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) will provide San Jose with a total of $101,799,888 in transit funding.

This funding was included in last year's bipartisan infrastructure package, which Rep. Lofgren voted for in November.

"Public transit is a vital resource that connects people to jobs and services while protecting our environment," said Rep. Lofgren. "I supported the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to upgrade our infrastructure and strengthen public transit in California and nationwide. These funds will help ensure that public transit in the South Bay is efficient, affordable, and provides fair access for all."

This funding is part of $20 billion in transit funding authorized by the infrastructure package for transit agencies across the country to modernize and expand services. In total, California communities will receive $1.9 billion in transit funding this year under the law. As an Urbanized Area, San Jose will receive the funds directly and then decide how much to provide to specific transit agencies and other providers in the area.
