Rep. Lofgren Announces $10K to Support Arts Education in San Jose

May 1, 2024

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren announced that the New Ballet School Downtown San Jose, Inc. will receive $10,000 from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to support a dance education program for elementary school students who currently have limited access to arts education.

“Engaging in the arts can open doors to new and exciting opportunities for students. This federal investment will foster creativity and provide educational experiences for typically-underserved students. San Jose is a hub for art and culture, and I’m proud to announce this federal funding that will help promote greater diversity within our community,” said Rep. Zoe Lofgren.

This funding comes from the NEA’s Challenge America grant program, which expands access to art and cultural projects to underserved groups and communities.

The NEA funding comes from the FY24 consolidated appropriations package, which Rep. Lofgren voted in favor of.
