SAN JOSE, CA – Today, U.S. Reps. Zoe Lofgren (D-San Jose), Anna G. Eshoo (D-Palo Alto), Ro Khanna (D-Santa Clara), and Jimmy Panetta (D-Carmel) applauded the closure of the bankruptcy sale of the O’Connor and Saint Louise hospitals to Santa Clara County.

The Members of Congress, who make up the Santa Clara County congressional delegation, issued the following statement:

“When these facilities filed for bankruptcy, the only bidder to save these hospitals was Santa Clara County. As we made clear to all stakeholders involved throughout the process, today’s sale is in the clear best interest of our constituents. As a result, these medical facilities will continue to serve our local communities’ health care needs, and residents of south county and low-income families will no longer be faced with the prospect of traveling at least 25 miles to the nearest emergency room or being forced to go without care. We are thankful Santa Clara County has ensured these vital medical facilities will no longer risk permanent closure.”
