Santa Clara County Reps Announce $65M+ in Federal Funding for COVID-19-Related Expenditures
SAN JOSE, CA – Today, U.S. Representatives Zoe Lofgren (CA-18), Anna Eshoo (CA-16), Ro Khanna (CA-17), and Jimmy Panetta (CA-19) announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is reimbursing Santa Clara County for $65,142,877.75 for emergency health and safety expenditures incurred as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The COVID-19 pandemic impacted everyone’s life, and amidst challenging times, Santa Clara County officials provided testing, vaccinations, and medical supplies to county-owned hospitals and staff and made emergency housing assistance available to highly vulnerable community members. This federal funding will help cover part of the costs associated with these protective measures. While we welcome these resources and recognize FEMA’s work to provide our communities with necessary funding, we continue to call for additional reimbursements and funding to ensure that Santa Clara County is prepared for future challenges,” said Reps. Lofgren, Eshoo, Khanna, and Panetta.
This funding was provided by the Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act, which authorizes FEMA’s disaster response activities and programming.
