Legislation Extends Health Benefits to Filipino Veterans of World War II

Washington, DC — The House of Representatives passed the Veterans Health Care Improvement Act of 2003 in a voice vote this week, extending VA health benefits to Filipino Veterans of World War II who currently reside in the United States. Congresswoman Lofgren praised passage of this bill.o:p>

Washington, DC — Representatives Lofgren and Honda (D-San Jose) announced today that the City of San Jose and Santa Clara County will receive grants totaling $21.7 million. The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) grants include funding for Community Development Block Grants, the HOME Investment Partnership Program, the Emergency Shelter Grant Program and the Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS.

Mineta San Jose International Airport. The grants will provide funding for runway rehabilitation, taxiway improvements, safety enhancement and capacity. The grants also provide funding to reduce noise in the area surrounding the airport, and for an Aircraft Rescue Firefighting Vehicle.o:p>
