Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.) and Mike Honda (D-Calif.)applauded new procedures announced yesterday to allow employment and family-based immigrants to start their green card process earlier. The new procedures, issued by the State Department and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, will allow tens of thousands of would-be immigrants to begin benefitting from important rights and protections that are afforded to Lawful Permanent Residents.

WASHINGTON, D.C.Two new federal grants were awarded to the San Jose State University Research Foundation for humanities research, announced U.S. Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.) today.

The grants – totaling more than $350,000 – were awarded by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). NEH grants are highly competitive and involve a rigorous peer-review and selection process to ensure that the projects represent the highest level of humanities research and public engagement.
