Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren (D-San Jose), today delivered the following statement during a Committee on House Administration markup hearing of HR1316, the 527 Fairness Act of 2005. The legislation would remove accumulated hard-money contribution limits on federal committees and parties and remove spending limits imposed on national political parties in a given election cycle.

‹ Today, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) issued a report on critical infrastructure protection report, “Department of Homeland Security Faces Challenges in Fulfilling Cybersecurity Responsibilities”. The report comes at the request of Reps. Mac Thornberry (R-TX) and Zoe Lofgren (D-CA), who served as Chairman and Ranking member, respectively, on the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Cybersecurity in the 108th Congress.

The House Judiciary Committee today passed the “Internet Spyware (I-SPY) Prevention Act of 2005, H.R. 744, which was introduced by Representatives Bob Goodlatte (R-VA-06), Zoe Lofgren (D-CA-16) and Lamar Smith (R-TX-21). This bipartisan legislation, which passed the House of Representatives last Congress by a vote of 415-0, addresses the most egregious activities that are conducted via spyware and makes those activities criminal offenses.
