In light of upcoming meetings in November with Chinese President Hu Jintao, Representatives Zoe Lofgren (D- San Jose), Mike Honda (D- San Jose) and Anna Eshoo (D- Palo Alto), today sent the following letter to President Bush urging assistance in obtaining the release of Jude Shao. Shao is an American citizen who has been imprisoned for the past six years in China, without a fair trial or the ability to present evidence that could exonerate him.

In light of the Hospital Corporation of America’s (HCA) announcement that the San Jose Medical Center will close even earlier than scheduled, Reps. Zoe Lofgren and Mike Honda (D —San Jose) Thursday sent a letter to Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist asking for assistance to keep the San Jose Medical Center open. Senator Frist’s family owns the HCA.

Zoe Lofgren (D — San Jose) applauds the passage of National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program Reauthorization Act, a bill that she co-sponsored to reauthorize the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program (NEHRP) and to establish the National Windstorm Impact Reduction Program. The bill passed the House on Friday night by unanimous vote. This legislation is designed to help prevent loss of lives and property due to earthquakes and windstorms.

{The House of Representatives today passed the Internet Spyware (I-SPY) Prevention Act of 2004, H.R. 4661, which was introduced by Representatives Bob Goodlatte (R-VA-06), Zoe Lofgren (D-CA-16) and Lamar Smith (R-TX-21). This bipartisan legislation, which passed 415-0, addresses the most egregious activities that are conducted via spyware and makes those activities criminal offenses.
